Choosing the lighting for your home is an essential element of living: lamps, ceiling lights and wall lamps scan activities, sculpt spaces and help to create a sense of comfort everywhere.
If you want to restyle and plan the lighting of your home, start from here: four simple questions to help you to find the most suitable lamps.
Find out the number of light sources according to the size of the room.
Direct, indirect and adjustable lights, depending on what you need to do.
Valorize your furniture with design lamps and light sources.
Find the best place to place the lights.
In the living area, the light is the soul of the room. Ceiling lamps and sophisticate pendants enhance the more convivial environment of the house, without ever forgetting the functionality. Whether it's direct or ambient lighting, the aim is the same: to create a sense of wellness, at nightfall as well as during the day.
Eccentrics, originals or irreverent: the key word is personality. Design lamps attract attention and at the same time they enhance the surrounding context, creating unexpected suggestions. From table lamps to the floor ones, design lights are able to combine functionality with an explosive aesthetics.
Reading, writing, working at the desk, or waking up during the night not disturbing the partner sleeping next. In the living area, in the office and in the bedroom, the lamps accompany us in our evening activities: it's better to choose them orientable, to give them the required direction, and with a light intensity adjustable.
There are no rules for living, and even the light should be able to adapt itself, following you where necessary, even where there is no electrical outlet. Choose wireless and rechargeable lamps to bring them with you in the garden, in the kid's room, or in your favourite house corner.
To choose the right lamp you should consider some technical parameters and go for materials similar to the context (glass, plastic materials or metal). Also you need to check how long will the light stay on, with a view to the energy saving and the environmental impact.
Here below some technical information to guide your choices:
Today they are the most efficient from the energetic point of view: with the same consumption, the LED lamps emit more light then the incandescent ones. Also, they have a lower environmental impact and last a long time.
Lumen (lm) indicate how much light a lamp emits. Intensity is different depending on the type of lamp (incandescent, halogen, low consumption or LED). Watt (W) indicate instead how much energy the light source consumes.
They are lamps with adjustable light intensity. They can have a "handle switch" with which you can modulate the light from 0 to 100%, or choose preset light levels (ex. Intensity 40, 60 or 100%).
The colour rendering index measures how natural are the colours illuminated by the lamp. The value is measured from 0 to 100: the higher it is, the better the performance.Values above 80 are optimal for natural lighting.
It is measured in Kelvin and indicates the heat of the light irradiated by the bulb. Lamps from 2200-3300 K emit a warm light; the ones from 3300-5500 K emit a cold light.
It indicates the protection level of the lamp from external agents (powder, sprays, water jets or immersion). The lamps for outdoor usually have an index which varies from IP44, splash protection, to IP67, immersion proof for up to 30 minutes.
